Urban Geology in Asia and the Pacific Region

Format *
As early as 1985, in view of the fast-growing economies and populations of the Asia and the Pacific region, the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific became aware of the need to consider geological conditions in land-use planning to secure potentially huge benefits in terms of economy, safety and human health. This publication provides insight into the current problems and progress in the field of geology for urban planning. It serves to identify aspects common to many countries and also to alert the geosciences community to more unique, area-specific problems, worthy of world attention.
