Excerpts from a non-sales publication
No permission is necessary to reproduce excerpts from a non-sales publication provided that proper credits are given.
Excerpts from a sales publication
No permission is required for the use of excerpts containing less than 500 words. Additionally, we do not require a permission request for the use of up to 2 graphs, charts, tables and figures. Proper credits are required. Any use exceeding this allowance, requires express written permission and may be subject to a fee.
Excerpts from other content
No permission is necessary to reproduce excerpts from speeches delivered by UN staff in their official capacity provided that proper credits are given along with the date and context. As for speeches delivered at the United Nations (all Secretariat locations) by non UN staff, requests must be addressed to the speaker.
With regard to treaties and conventions, while each individual text is in the public domain, the online UN Treaty Collection is proprietary and cannot be reproduced, translated, distributed, sold or otherwise used without a prior written permission.
United Nations emblem
Use and display of the United Nations emblem is highly restricted and essentially limited to the organization’s activities. You may not use any trademark, official mark, official emblem, flag or logo of the United Nations, or any of its other means of promotion or publicity, to represent or imply an association or affiliation with the United Nations without the United Nation’s prior written consent. All requests for the use of the UN logo should be sent to email@example.com via email.

News Centre stories
The United Nations welcomes the use of UN News Centre articles as long as the articles are posted in their entirety, without any edits and with proper credits accorded. We also require that, where applicable, you provide a link a back to the story on the UN News Centre home page www.un.org/news.
The Film and Video Archives of the United Nations provide over 60 years’ worth of historical film and video materials for use in news, documentaries and other productions related to the aims of the United Nations. To seek permission to use a video, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Radio and audio
UN Radio produces daily news content in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Kiswahili, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish, and weekly programmes in, Hindi, Urdu and Bangladeshi. Content can be downloaded directly from the website after the user has registered. Both individuals and organizations can register as users. No further action is required.
