State of the Region

A Report on Sustainable Human Development in Central America - Summary

Format *
The First Regional Report on Sustainable Human Development in Central America is intended to be a forum for dialogue and exchange among diverse social and academic actors. One of the most serious problems in terms of consolidating Central America's identity as a region of peace, liberty, democracy and development is the scarcity of follow-up systems for monitoring government and societal performance on regional goals. This publication makes a contribution by establishing systems for measuring and evaluating performance in sustainable human development. The areas of discussion include: population growth, living conditions, poverty, change in the economic importance of the countries, and gaps in human development.
