The purpose of the UNECE Trade and Investment Guides is to assist countries in transition, as well as economic actors in other countries, in becoming familiar with best practices in the areas of trade and investment and related legal and commercial practices. This issue, the 8th guide in this series, draws primarily on the deliberations of the international Forum on Market Surveillance, which was held in Geneva in October 2002. It is aimed at pursuing economic and trade cooperation in the region through the elimination of technical obstacles to trade and providing assistance and advice to countries in transition on their market transformation reforms.
