Caribbean, The

One and Divisible

Format *
In the Caribbean, Europe seized a region and implanted a population there which it controlled to serve European interests. The aim of this study is to comprehend how the role played by the Caribbean in the world system affects the relationships between the social groups within its societies. It analyzes the 'creole', examines the type of workers that succeed the slaves and shows how they differed from the wage-earning worker. One chapter focuses on the regional unity of moving toward a nation and another deals with the reproduction of structural dualism.
