The 1966 Demographic Yearbook is the eighteenth in the series of compendia of demographic statistics issued by the Statistical Office of the United Nations since 1948 and the fourth to feature mortality statistics under the cyclical rotation plan of publication whereby a .different field of demographic statistics receives intensive treatment each year. The special topic of each of the eighteen issues is set forth on page ii. International migration statistics are also included for the first time since the 1962 issue; the present coverage (1960-1965), together with the eight previous issues where these data were shown, provides 20-year trends for some countries. It is planned to present migration statistics biennially henceforth.
