In today’s fast moving society, the pressure to excel in sports, have fun on the social scene, and escape reality for various reasons is high especially amongst the younger generation. Young people might take whatever substances or drugs are available to satisfy their desires. As a result, the increased consumption of synthetic drugs such as Amphetamine-type Stimulants (ATS) is dramatic, worldwide. This report analyzes the size and nature of the emerging ATS threat with the view of exploring what society can do to overcome the problem globally. It provides key information on the origins of the drugs, on the trends in their worldwide use, and the danger they pose to mankind.
