This publication presents a regional overview on land-based sources and activities affecting the marine, coastal and associated freshwater environment in the Wider Caribbean Region. The report introduces national profiles of each country in the region discussing such areas as: population, natural resource base, economics, identification and assessment of problems, emerging issues, priorities for action, and measures taken. As a result of this research several initiatives were taken to assist some of the countries in developing the necessary infrastructure and treatment facilities to deal with domestic sewage, solid waste and ship generated waste.
