About the product

This publication presents an overview of science and technology (S and T) in Western Asia and gives a brief summary of implicit and explicit Science and Technology policy orientations adopted. It describes policy and strategy formulation activities in a number of regions and countries around the world during the past decade and presents a systemic approach as a basis for analyzing Science and Technology policies. A framework for future S and T policy formulation in the countries of Western Asia, based on this approach,is introduced and reviewed. Science and Technology Policies in the Twenty-first Century also addresses the issue of how to adapt the above-mentioned framework to the particular needs of the countries of Western Asia.
