About the product
This tri-lingual publication reflects the views of ECE governments that living conditions and urban problems are multidimensional and should be considered in a context of economic and social development. They cannot be separated from the general national and international frameworks for economic and social development, environmental protection and peace and security. The Strategy aims to recognize the link between the human settlements and development, promote democratic governance and contribute to the overall ECE strategic directions as defined in the ECE Plan of Action. It is hoped that this publication will be of value to governments, local authorities, the business community and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as well as others interested in human settlements.
