About the book
The Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination held two regular sessions in 2007: the seventieth (1787th to 1817th meetings) and seventy-first (1818th to 1845th meetings). The Committee remains committed to a continual process of reflection on and improvement of its working methods, with the aim of maximizing its effectiveness. The Committee adopted revised reporting guidelines in order to take into consideration the guidelines on a common core document and treaty specific documents, as contained in the harmonized guidelines on reporting under the international human rights treaties approved by the fifth inter-Committee meeting of the
human rights treaty bodies held in June 2006 (HRI/MC/2006/3 and Corr.1), as well as to take into account the evolving practice and interpretation of the Convention by the Committee, as reflected in its general recommendations, opinions on individual communications, decisions and concluding observations.
