About the product
Human Rights has gone beyond the traditional and limited view of civil and political rights, to a more holistic approach incorporating such dimensions as social, economic and cultural rights. This has thus resulted in the marriage between human rights and sustainable human development. As we celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948-1998, this publication comes to promote wide discussion and broad awareness of the links between human rights and development. It discusses human rights and their implications for sustainable human development, mainstreaming the United Nations Development Programme support for human rights and implementing strategy.
