About the product

In the present international context, the increasing ability to compete and to achieve a more dynamic linkage with world markets have become essential for sustainable growth. The Latin American and Caribbean countries have, since the 1980s, intensified their efforts to achieve such an objective. This publication explores the scope of efforts made. It offers an in-depth discussion on three interrelated types of policies: trade policy; micro- and meso-economic policy and macroeconomic policy. It also suggests guidelines that the countries of the region can utilize towards the improvement of linkages with the international economy.
