In this series a comparison is made between the 'export orientation' of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Latin America and East Asia. The series calls for a new approach to SME policy making in Latin America, in light of new challenges and opportunities created by Information and Communication Technology (ICT). It also examines the 'E-readiness' of Latin America and that of East Asia. In addition, an analysis is made on the overall impact of ICT on inter-firm relations of SMEs.
