About the product
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) has proven to be a valuable quantitative tool, as well as a methodology or 'way of thinking' that can be applied to production and consumption issues with fruitful results. There is evidence however that LCA is not being utilized to its full potential, even in those countries that are most involved in its development and application. This publication describes the recent initiatives taken to determine the level of acceptance and adoption of LCA world-wide; provides a concise review of the current status of the theory and practice of LCA; and discuss the barriers to - and the potential for - LCA's wider application. In addition, it presents recommendations on how to improve the global use of LCA and presents an 'Action Plan' for wider promotion.
