Resolutions and Decisions Adopted by the General Assembly

Resolutions and Decisions are adopted at the United Nations General Assembly by a majority of Member States present and voting. Important questions including recommendations on international peace and security, and the election of members to some United Nations principal organs and budgetary matters, must be decided by a two-thirds majority. While the decisions of the General Assembly have no legally binding force for governments, they carry the weight of world opinion and the moral authority of the world community.
