Assessment of Land-based Sources and Activities Affecting the Marine, Coastal and Associated Freshwater Environment in the South-east Pacific

Format *
The Global Programme of Action of the Marine Environment from Land-based Activities was adopted in November 1995. The goal of this programme is to prevent the degradation of the marine environment from land-based activities. This publication analyzes the problems faced by the countries of the South-East Pacific region - Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Panama and Peru. It reviews other forms of degradation originating in industrial wastes and urban, agricultural, forestry and mining runoff; and identifies coastal water basins whose waters flow into the seas carrying various loads of pollution from anthropogenic activities.
