About the product
This publication presents a synthesis of the national reports presented at the 1998 Lisbon Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe. In addition to an overview of the extent and state of Europe's forests, the State of European Forests and Forestry also presents tables, by country, of the major changes to the legal and institutional framework; information availability; conservation and protection of forest biodiversity and participation in international cooperation in the forest field. It also includes a special focus on Portugal's special educational programme 'Forests in Motion' for children, and on the protection regimes for forests in Turkey.
