About the product
This publication considers the factors that contributed to the decision of the members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development to discontinue the negotiations on the Multilateral Agreement on Investment (MAI). It also draws lessons that could be of use for future negotiations of international investments. In addition to discussing the main outstanding substantive issues, the publication also presents an inquiry into the broader political context within which the MAI negotiations took place, giving a more complete perspective on the factors that contributed to their suspension and eventual discontinuation.
