About the product
This study aims at providing a deeper understanding of the perspectives and experiences of Thai women who have migrated to Japan and returned home to their villages. The publication portrays the personal stories of 55 Thai women and conveys this collection of information to communities, service providers and government officials in both Japan and Thailand for consideration in developing policies and programmes, which offer support and avoid further alienation. Every year thousands of Thai women migrate to seek better work opportunities abroad, Japan is one of several destination countries to which Thai women migrate, where the demand for unskilled labour and, in particular, for sex workers is high.
