About the product

Africa as a whole has begun to make significant economic and political progress in recent years, but in many parts of the continent progress remains threatened or impeded by conflict. In this publication, Secretary-General Kofi Annan presents an analysis of the sources of conflicts in Africa and suggests the reasons why they persist. The Report proposes realistic and achievable recommendations to reduce conflict and in time help to build a strong and durable peace. The Secretary- General stated in the Report that, with sufficient political will on the part of Africa and the international community, peace and development in Africa can be given a new momentum.
