About the product
This publication offers a frank discussion on disarmament and security in Africa. It examines the role of the United Nations in the area of arms limitation and disarmament; the pre- and post-cold war era and the environment created by the end of the cold war; South Africa's accession to the nuclear non-proliferation treaty; and the possibility of African states taking a further step to making the African continent a nuclear-weapons-free zone. The aim of disarmament strategy in Africa is to ensure the continent's security, diminish inter-regional arms competition and promote a united approach to any threats to the continent's peace and security.
