About the product
The concept of household food security emerged during the 1980s as a potentially useful development objective, capturing the interest of, among others, those involved in social and economic development. This publication reviews the evolution of the household food security concept, its indicators and data collection methods. It also presents detailed annotated bibliographies on each component to facilitate additional research and reference. The contribution this publication makes in increasing the understanding of the concept as an objective in programming and project design and as a key variable in monitoring change and evaluating outcome will prove most helpful to researchers, international aid organizations, government agencies and NGOs among others.
