About the product

This study describes the most significant membrane processes being used by the chemical industry, among them micro-filtration, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis of electrodialysis. According to the study, these processes have been widely applied in the purification of waste waters, concentration and separation of components, biotechnology and the production of certain chemicals. An essential feature of membrane technology, namely economics, is discussed in a separate chapter covering the cost of operation and equipment and the minimum overall cost. The study gives an idea of possible future developments in industrial application of membranes. A list of major European suppliers of membranes, modules and process equipment is also provided.
