The Fifth Ministerial Conference on Environment and Development in Asia and the Pacific 2005 concentrated on achieving environmentally sustainable economic growth, or “green growth”. The concept is innovative in that it reconciles two potentially incompatible Millennium Development Goals: economic growth to alleviate poverty and environmental sustainability.
