This report evaluates the impact due to the development of intermodal transport network and logistics facilities on hinterland penetration of ports. The report identifies infrastructure and institutional problems that limit opportunities of ports in Asia to serve expanded hinterland, and features policy guidelines to improve transport and logistics facilities in order to expand port hinterlands. Los Angeles, Brisbane, Tauranga, Duisburg and Vancouver are discussed as case studies.
