About the product
This report reviews the efforts of the United Nations Environment Protection Agency (UNEP) over the past year to achieve its principal objectives including promotion of coherent environmental governance, carrying out assessments of environmental conditions and threats, and keeping environmental protection firmly established on the international development agenda. Some highlights of the past year presented in this report include and overview of the World Summit on Sustainable Development, the International Year of Mountains, the International Year of Ecotourism, Ratification of the Kyoto Protocol, Global Ministerial Environment Forum and the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD).
