About the product

This issue, No. 23 of the recurrent annual publication, focuses on one of the major issues in local and regional agricultural development; the harmonization of norms, standards and legal instruments for selected agricultural inputs. The objective for doing this is to increase productivity, protect the environment and increase agricultural exports in order to promote cooperation in the ESCWA region. This publication contains several papers that were presented at an expert group meeting on this subject, which was held in Cairo in 2001. Of particular interest were those papers that focused on laws and legislation issued by the ministry of agriculture of each ESCWA member country and the role of the relevant institutions in harmonizing norms and standards for agricultural inputs.
