About the product

The strategic role of transport in international trade and commerce has been undergoing major changes because of globalization. In recent years, the importance of land transport has increased tremendously as a critical logistics and service-support sector, and as part of an overall supply chain. In order to provide efficient, smooth and reliable transport facilities and services between different countries, there is a need to provide not only the infrastructure, but also the software. In order to assist the ESCWA region to adopt appropriate and efficient facilitation measures for border crossings, the paper highlights the good practices in use in Europe, including an indication of various conventions and agreements that European countries have adopted to address the physical and non-physical barriers at border crossing.
