The May 2006 floods in Suriname were a devastating blow for the affected population’s capacity to make a living. This assessment of the socio-economic impact of the floods makes use of the Sustainable Livelihoods Approach to analyze their impact on the affected households. It outlines the vulnerability context of the affected population and it maps the strategies of households to sustain a living.
