This study documents efforts by the UN and its agencies to better respond to the impact of armed conflict on women and children. The study, which was mandated by the Security Council, recommends the integration of gender perspectives in peacekeeping and humanitarian operations, as well as post conflict reconstruction. Coordinated by the Special Advisor on Gender Issues, the study draws on the collective experience of those in the UN system.
