Road transport is the most important mode of freight transportation in terms of output in almost all countries in the world, in particular in Asia and the Pacific region. Longer combination vehicles or vehicles with extended length and weight limits have the potential to make freight transport more efficient and environmentally friendly. The objective of this paper is to analyze the economic implications of permitting the use of longer combination vehicles.
