The Report looks back at the organization's work and achievements during the year while also pointing at the future. 2006 was a year in which it became evident that addressing the world’s major environmental and sustainable development challenges is no longer divided down the lines of developed and developing countries. Decisive and wide-ranging decisions need to be made on the overarching issue of climate change and the need to mainstream environment into poverty reduction and development strategies in order to meet the Millennium Development Goals.
