The objective of this manual is to help member countries, particularly the least developed countries in Asia, to strengthen their capacity to address very complex issues of trade policy and trade promotion, allowing them to become increasingly stronger players in the global market place. It is intended for training of trainers, but it is also flexible enough to be adapted to various other training situations. It presents seven guiding modules that can be used separately, or combined. The modules cover the following subject areas: globalization, development and trade; World Trade Organization; regional approaches to trade liberalization; building institutional support for trade promotion; accessing global markets and becoming an international player; trade facilitation and electronic commerce; and basic training principles.
