Study on the Potential for Hydrocarbon Replacements in Existing Domestic and Small Commercial Refrigeration Appliances

Format *
Developing countries face an important and unique challenge under the Montreal Protocol to Protect the Ozone Layer: what should be done with the millions of existing domestic and commercial refrigerators and freezers that use ozone-depleting CFC refrigerants? This study presents the findings of a technical research undertaken to investigate the potential for hydrocarbon replacements in existing domestic and small commercial refrigeration appliances. It also discusses country field experiences and the results of workshops that could help decision-makers in developing countries weigh the positive and negative aspects of this retrofitting option.
