Africa Renewal

The Africa Renewal magazine examines the many issues that confront the people of Africa, its leaders and its international partners: sustainable development goals, economic reform, debt, education, health, women's empowerment, conflict and civil strife, democratization, investment, trade, regional integration and many other topics. It tracks policy debates. It provides expert analysis and on-the-spot reporting to show how those policies affect people on the ground. And, it highlights the views of policy-makers, non-governmental leaders and others actively involved in efforts to transform Africa and improve its prospects in the world today. The magazine also reports on and examines the many different aspects of the United Nations’ involvement in Africa, especially within the framework of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD).

The Annual Review of Developments in Globalization and Regional Integration in the Arab Countries examines different aspects of trade and economic ccoperation on a global scale and their effects on the Arab region, as well as developments in economic cooperation between Arab countries themselves.


Asia-Pacific Development Journal

The Asia-Pacific Development Journal (APDJ) is published twice a year by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. The primary objective of the APDJ is to provide a platform for the exchange of knowledge, experience, ideas, information and data on all aspects of economic and social development issues and concerns facing the region and aims to stimulate policy debate and assist policy formulation. The APDJ provides a scholarly means for bringing together research work by eminent social scientists and development practitioners from the region and beyond for use by a variety of stakeholders. The Journal aims to stimulate policy debate and assist policy formulation in the region.


Asia-Pacific MDG Study Series

The studies in this series have been published by ESCAP/ADB/UNDP in a joint project on MDGs in Asia and the Pacific. They look at key drivers which have propelled MDG achievements in the region, and which are likely to remain important in the region’s quest for reaching the Goals by 2015. They focus specifically on three areas where increased and sustained policy attention would be required: hunger and food security; health and basic services; and basic infrastructure. The series is a resource which policy makers, development practitioners and other stakeholders should find useful in achieving the MDGs.

Asia-Pacific Population Journal

For over two decades, the Asia-Pacific Population Journal (APPJ) has been taking the pulse of population and social issues unfolding in the region. Published by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), APPJ brings out high quality, evidence-based and forward-looking articles relevant for population policies and programmes in Asia and the Pacific. Prominent population experts, award-winning demographers, as well as lesser known researchers have been contributing articles, documenting over the years the evolution of thinking in this important sphere.

Assessment of Development Results

This series assesses the attainment of intended and achieved results as well as United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) contributions to development results at the country level. Their scope include, but is not confined to, UNDP responsiveness and alignment to country challenges and priorities; strategic positioning; use of comparative advantage; and engagement with partners. The number and selection of countries, and the timing of these evaluations, are determined to ensure coverage and to allow findings and recommendations to feed into the preparation of the subsequent programme. Wherever possible, these evaluations will be conducted in conjunction with other United Nations organizations.


Dialogues at the Economic and Social Council

This series presents key debates from the High-level Segment of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). It contains keynote speeches, issue papers, roundtable summaries, National Voluntary Presentations, transcriptions of other dialogues and discussions.

ECE Innovative Performance Review

Innovation Performance Reviews are a major new focus of work for the Economic Cooperation and Integration Division. Initiated at the request of member state Governments, they are a participatory policy advisory service examining possible policy actions to stimulate innovation activities, enhance innovation capacity and improve the efficiency of national innovation systems. Reviews follow outlines agreed upon with requesting Governments, and are prepared in collaboration with international and national experts, and the  UNECE secretariat.
