About the product

Despite a decline in poverty across Asia and the Pacific, there are significant disparities between urban and rural areas. Poverty is more common in rural areas and the disparity is the main reason for the rapid urbanization of the region. To prevent an influx of poverty in urban areas, the region must balance development in both urban and rural areas. This study addresses the problem of disparities in Asia and the Pacific within the context of a rapidly urbanizing and globalizing world, which is on the threshold of major economic changes, technological innovations and rapid environmental degradation.
