Profile and Migration Intentions of Crimean Tatars Living in Uzbekistan

Format *
Based on an extensive survey, this study investigates the likelihood of a further wave of Crimean Tatars moving from Uzbekistan to their original homeland and looks into different factors discouraging them from returning. Among other issues, it analyzes the socio-economic characteristics of the Crimean Tatar population in Uzbekistan, the information that is available to them about living conditions upon return, and the general attitude of the former deportees towards going back. Having come to the conclusion that there is a substantial migration potential, the report recommends that the countries involved develop a planned and coordinated approach for the resettlement of Crimean Tatars.
