Kosovo Conflict, The

Consequences for the Environment and Human Settlements

Format *
This publication presents an assessment on yet another man-made environmental problem - the consequences for the environment and human settlements resulting from the NATO air strikes against Kosovo between 24 March 1999 and 10 June 1999. It focuses on five main areas: the environmental consequences - of air strikes on industrial sites; - of the conflict on the Danube river; - on biodiversity in protected areas; - for human settlements and the environment in Kosovo; and the possible use of depleted uranium weapons in Kosovo. In addition to the principal findings and recommendations, this assessment also presents information on the state of the environment and human settlements in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia prior to the Kosovo conflict.
