Integrated Assessment and Development of Mineral Resources in the Greater Mekong Subregion

This publication focuses on the use of state-of-the-art Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to assess mineral resources potential in the Greater Mekong Subregion. The subregion includes the riparian states of Mekong River, namely Cambodia, Lao's People's Democratic Republic, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and Yunnan Province of China. The publication consists of two parts. Part one presents of three international studies, which give a subregional overview of integrated assessment and development of natural resources and the evaluation of the data coverage, the present status of GIS applications for resources assessment, and recommendations for future follow-up. Part two reviews the resource assessment programmes undertaken on a national basis.
