Using Nigeria as a country study, this paper evaluates the impact of trade liberalization and trade related policies on the environment, and examines the related social and economic effects as a result of them. The cocoa and rubber sub-sectors are used as the primary commodities in this case study. The aim of this paper is to identify any positive or negative impacts of the policies of trade liberalization, with a view of coming up with policy proposals that will boost agriculture productivity.
