Since the middle of the 1980s, many structural reforms have been adopted in Latin America in response to the debt crisis. This study discusses the effects of these reforms, with a critical look on the conclusions of former studies. It also presents an evaluation of the impact of trade and capital account liberalization, tax and financial sector reform and privatization, using data collected from 17 countries.
