The food processing industry has been the target of considerable technological innovation, particularly during the past two decades. This study attempts to examine various aspects of the agro-food sector in the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) countries and to enhance the promotion of environmentally sound technologies (EST). It is hoped that the study will provide the basis for efforts aimed at the assessment and wide adoption of EST in the ESCWA member countries.
