A study for the 1970s of 60 third-world counties, including 22 in Africa, showed that there was very limited use of demographic data in development plans. This report is based on experiences gained by the United Nations in providing technical cooperation in the establishment of demographic training an research centers to 12 English-speaking counties in Africa. Along with the presentation on project design, activities, management, staff establishment and budget allocations, it also discusses the difficulties faced in project implementation and the impact of projects on country development.
