This paper investigates the main patterns of international migration to and from Argentina in the twentieth century. It explains how good economic opportunities brought millions of Europeans to Argentina between the period 1870 and 1930. Then it examines how economic decline, poor opportunities and authoritarian regimes created the inverse effect during the latter part of the century. Migration trends and patterns are also highlighted.
