The specific issues addressed include the manner by which policies, programmes and targets aim to influence demographic variables, how they have been formulated and the extent to which they have been implemented in relation to one another and to other social, economic and political goals. For each country, historical background and population concerns are presented, as well as general demographic trends, estimates and projections.
