About the product

A series of country case studies has been published by the United Nations which focuses on selected issues in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of population policies in various developing and developed countries. The specific issues addressed include the manner by which policies, programmes and targets aim to influence demographic variables, how they have been formulated and the extent to which they have been implemented in relation to one another and to other social, economic and political goals. For each country, historical background and population concerns are presented, as well as general demographic trends, estimates and projections.
