About the book
The primary emphasis of the Journal is the publishing of empirically based, policy-oriented articles, which can engage the attention of policy makers, academicians and researchers. The articles analyze development issues and problems relevant to the Asia-Pacific region. This issue discusses the following topics: Can Malyasian manufacturing compete with China in the WTO; Aid policies and poverty alleviation: the case of Viet Nam; Aid, mining development and structural adjustment in Papua New Guinea; Macroeconomics and high interest rates in Asia before 1997; Supporting smallholder dairying in Asia. The Asia-Pacific Development Journal is issued twice a year.
