About the product

Privatization is a key element in the transition to a market economy. Although much has been written about this growing phenomenon, little data has been published on the accounting problems that arise during the privatization exercise, particularly the valuation problem. This study focuses on the accounting, reporting and valuation issues involved in privatization and presents them in a readable, non-technical way. This book also includes case studies of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, France, Hungary, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Mexico and Sudan describing the motivations for privatization, techniques used to transfer public assets to private hands and the problems which have arisen because new accounting systems have been imposed.
