About the product
Once a year, on the occasion of the Annual Session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the ECE invites a distinguished economist to deliver the Myrdal Lecture on a major international economic issue. The lecture series is named in honour of Gunnar Myrdal, first Executive Secretary of the ECE (1947-1957) and winner of the 1974 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics. The 2005 Myrdal Lecture, Global Governance: Lessons from Europe, was given by Pascal Lamy, former European Union Trade Commissioner. The full text of the lecture is presented in this publication in English and in French.
